Privacy policy
Effective October 11, 2026
Happenstance collects no data. What you record stays on your phone. The developer never receives it, and the app has no account, no server, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
What the app stores, and where
The things you track, your records, notes, categories and settings are kept in a database inside the app on your phone. Nothing is uploaded. On Android the app does not have permission to use the internet at all.
Your phone's own system backup, such as iCloud Backup or Google's Android backup, may include the app's data along with your other apps. Those backups are run by Apple or Google under your account and their terms, and you control them in your phone's settings.
Backups you make
Export backup writes a file with your data and hands it to your phone's share sheet. Where it goes next, such as a cloud drive or an email, is your choice, and that service's privacy terms apply.
Purchases
Happenstance Unlimited is bought through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handle the payment and your payment details. The app only learns from your phone's store app whether the purchase exists, so it can turn Unlimited on.
Reminders
Reminders are off unless you turn them on. They are scheduled on your phone as local notifications and are worked out from your records on the phone. Nothing is sent to a notification service.
Feedback
Send feedback opens your own email app with a draft. Nothing is sent unless you send it. The draft includes the app version and your phone's operating system version, and none of your records. If you write in, your email is used only to answer you and is not shared.
This website
This site is served by Cloudflare, which keeps standard request logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, for security and to keep the site running. The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking.
Children
The app collects no information from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. A change that would collect data would be announced in the app before it took effect.
